on 5 December 1978, WAE announced its intention to create a new modification, the short-haul passenger Jetstream 31 (BAe-3100). The prototype, made by re-equipment of the model Jetstream 1 aircraft, made its first flight on March 28, 1980. The most important difference from the predecessor was the new power plant with more powerful turboprop engines TPE331-10 effective power on the shaft 900 HP, with four-bladed, not three-bladed as its predecessor, propellers.
