The early Bf 109F-2 had external reinforcing plates in the tail section, riveted directly at the factory. The aircraft received a new oxygen system working with high-pressure cylinders. The gas tank with a capacity of 400 l was made of 10-mm rubber, putting it in a plywood box. The maximum speed of Bf 109F-2 at the ground reached 502 km/h, and at an estimated height of 6000 m - about 600 km/h.
