In the late sixties of the aviation of the French Navy needed to replace carrier-based attack aircraft and intelligence, "Etandar" IV. In 1972, the company "Dasso" proposed a program of modernization of these aircraft. Initially, it was planned to modify the existing aircraft by installing new engines, avionics, weapons. The planned amount of improvements required significant design changes, so it was decided to build new aircraft, called "Super-Etandar". First flight of the prototype of the new aircraft in October 1974, and in 1978 "Super-Econdary" began to come into service of naval aviation of France. The main objective of the aircraft was to fight the enemy ships and the destruction of large coastal facilities.
